Andrus, Mildred E. & William T.ANDRUS – Ethel Mildred Andrus passed away on June 21, 1992 at Brooks, Alberta at the age of 85 years.

She was born at Hagler, Nebraska, U.S.A. and came to Alberta in 1912 with her family to the Gem district and moved to Youngstown shortly after.

She married in Gleichen on December 28, 1928 and with her husband ranched in the Hutton area before returning to Gem in 1936. They moved to Rose Lynn in 1946 and to Youngstown in 1956. Millie moved to Brooks in 1967 where she had resided since.

She was a member of the EID Legion, Brooks.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bill on February 6, 1966 and a daughter, Rosabelle Varty in 1989.

Surviving are five sons, Phil of Bassano, Jim of Buffalo, Gordon of Redcliff, David of Kamloops and Ralph of Medicine Hat; three daughters, Sarah Hein of Camrose, Ethel Moreen of Drumheller and Alice Tye of Grande Cache; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers Calvin and Delbert Laughlin of Youngstown; her sister Leila Rawleigh of Tilley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Bassano, on Friday, June 26th at 10:30 a.m. with Father Raul Ranola celebrant.

Honorary pallbearers were Ralph Ferguson, Bill Christianson, Don Galar­neau and Hugh Peake. Active pallbearers were Mervin, Rick and Peer Laughlin, Don Templar, Willie Spencer and Jim Hughes. Interment followed in Bassano Cemetery.

ANDRUS – An early settler of the prairie country, William Theodore Andrus died Feb 6th, 1966 in Brooks General Hospital. He was 64.

Mr. Andrus was born in North Dakota on June 18th, 1901 and came from that state to Carmangay in 1907. In 1923 he moved to Hutton where he ranched until 1936 when he moved to Gem where he farmed until 1946.

‘They moved to Roselyn, Alta., where they farmed until 1956 when he retired and they moved to Youngstown.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs, Ethel Mildred Andrus of Youngstown; five sons, Phillip John, Bassano; James Wesley, Buffalo; Gordon William of Medicine Hat; David Theodore, Osoyoos, B.C.; Ralph Hugh of Medicine Hat. Four daughters, Mrs. Rosabelle Edna Varty, Bassano, Mrs Sarah Ellen Hein, Brooks; Mrs, Ethel Maureen Andrus,. Osoyoos; Miss Alice Delores Andrus of Red Deer; 19 grandchildren; two brothers , Andy of Finnegan and Marques of Calgary.

Service was held Wednesday, Feb. 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the Bassano Roman Catholic Church with Rev. (Fr) Henke officiating and interment followed in the Bassano cemetery with Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pall bearers were Walter Peake, Jack Peake, Ralph Ferguson, Don Galarneau, J. Royer and Max Galarneau.
