Bodmer, Elizabeth Ann

BODMER – Elizabeth Ann (Betty Ann) Bodmer, beloved wife of Verne Bodmer, passed away in Bassano on April 21st, 1999 at the age of 69 years.

Born in Bassano on November 14th, 1929 Betty Ann received her early education there and at the age of 18 attended Business College in Calgary. She worked in Pay Roll with CPR for two and a half years and often teased her father, who worked for CPR in Bassano, that she knew his pay cheque before he did. Betty Ann returned to Bassano in 1951 where she and Verne were married on October 21st. She worked with Verne at Bodmer’s Mayfair Food Store until retiring in April of 1978. Because she missed her contact with people, Betty Ann became active as a volunteer with Extended Care at Bassano Health Centre, the Bassano Memorial Library and at the Playfair Lodge playing the piano for the residents. She had been a member of Knox Presbyterian Church serving as organist from the age of 14 until retiring at the age of 52. Betty Ann was a Charter Member of both O.E.S., Mary Keohane Chapter and the Order of Royal Purple, Bassano and had been an active member of the Knox Presbyterian Willing Workers.

She will be best remembered for her love for Verne and for her children and grandchildren, for her positive attitude, for her deep concern for others and for her contagious laugh.

Betty Ann was predeceased by her son Gerry on February 27th, 1994, father Harry in 1916, sisters Margaret, Dorothy and Carolynn and niece Lynn.

Besides her husband Verne of Bassano, she is also survived by her loving daughter Sharron Jackson and her husband Randy of Calgary and their children Scott of Calgary and Hayley Ferguson and her husband Jesse of Edmonton; daughter-in-law Sue Bodmer of Red Deer and her children Ryan, Jeremy, Christopher, Nicholas, Benjamin and Sarah; mother Molly (Nanna) Beeber of Bassano; brother Bill Beeber of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews.
