BODMER- Grant Edward Bodmer of Bassano, Alberta died in the Holy Cross Hospital on March 7, 1987 at the age of 69 years.
He was raised at Patricia, he later operated a store in partnership with his uncle Jules Bodmer in Rosemary, served in the Armed Forces from 1942 to 1945, married Elsie Park of Medicine Hat in 1942, moved to Bassano in 1950 where he operated Bassano Motors, a car and farm machinery dealership, then ranched, managed a Feed Mill, and most recently sold machinery in Bassano and surrounding areas. He was an avid trapshooter with a special interest in the Bassano Gun Club. He competed several times in the Seniors Class of the Alberta Summer Games; enjoyed the summer trapshooting circuit in Alberta and the winter circuit in Arizona.
He was a member of the Bassano Masonic Lodge, a founding member of the AI Azhar Mounted Patrol and an active member of the Drumheller Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 63 (Brooks).
He was predeceased by his father Henry and mother Teckla.
Surviving are his wife Elsie, his son Hugh and wife Caroline of Carbon, their children, Jennifer and Robyn, his son Rod and wife Geri of Gibsons, B.C. and their children, Nicole, David and Brittany and his daughter Shelley and husband Doug Peters of Didsbury and their children, Tommy and Andrea. He is also survived by his brother Laverne and wife Betty Ann of Bassano and their children, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church in Bassano on Saturday, March 14, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Bassano Junior Forest Wardens or the Knox Presbyterian Church Building Fund of Bassano.
