Clyne, Angus Sutherland

CLYNE – Angus Sutherland Clyne died in the Bassano General Hospital on December 28, 1989 at the age of 65 years.

He resided in the Countess district all of his life where he farmed his father’s homestead of 1929.

He married the former Maureen Winkley in Calgary on December 1, 1958. He served on the board of Bassano Gas Co-op, was a member of Bassano Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. Bassano No. 55, also a member of the Royal Arch Masons Harmony Chapter No. 26.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Jim in 1940 and Bob in 1964.

Surviving are his wife Maureen of Countess, a daughter Catherine and her husband Greg Boggs of Edmonton, two sons John and his wife Teresa of Countess and David of Countess and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters Betty Marquardt of Bassano, Margaret Douglass of Gem and Jean Slorstad of Sunnynook; two brothers John Clyne of Olds, Alberta and Sandy Clyne of Athabasca, Alberta; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, December 30, 1989 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, Bassano with Rev. Hector Rose officiating. Interment followed in Bassano Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were: Ralph Burrows, Phil Andrus, Henry Janzen Ted Lemire, Ray Sawatsky, Sunny Aimoto and Sid Gosling.

Active pallbearers were: Don Sawatsky, Ken Sawatsky, Rae Latimer, Walter Nasse, Keyoshi  Aimoto and Gerry McCoomb. Smith Funeral Home was in  charge of arrangements.
