DOUGLASS – Elsie D. Douglass died in the Cross Bow Auxiliary Hospital in Calgary on July 5, 1990 at the age of 96 years.
She was born on February 22, 1894 in Calgary N.W.T the eldest daughter of Malcolm and Helen Millar of Millarville. In 1914 she married Leslie V. Douglass of
Finnegan and they ranched there until moving to Calgary m 1950.
She was a good mother, grandmother, stockwoman and excellent horsewoman, a lady at all times. She was always very community minded and willing to help when needed.
She was a charter member of the Southern Alberta Oldtimers Assn. where she was active for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband Leslie in 1969: three sons, Godfrey in 1928. Gordon in 1975 and Dorien (Jappy) In 1989.
Surviving a son Eric (Ginger) and wife Helena Douglass of Edmonton, daughter Dulcie Cox of Carstairs, Alberta; two daughters-in-law Martha Douglass and Margaret Douglass, 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mildred Macmillan of Okotoks, one niece and one nephew.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 11 (today) at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Bassano with the Reverend David Asher officiating. Interment will follow in the Bassano Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are all her friends. Active pallbearers are Ken Douglass, Neil Douglass. John Douglass, Russell Douglass, Stuart Douglass, Leslie Douglass and Patrick Cox.
