EVANS – Mr. Floyd Hans Evans of Bassano passed away suddenly in Bassano on December 8th, 1997 at the age of 65 years.
Born in Bassano on April 25th, 1932 Floyd received his education there and had spent all of his life in the area. He married the former Winnifred Phillips on February 25th, 1966 and together they farmed and raised a family. Winnifred passed away on February 25th, 1979 and Floyd married the former Doris Meidinger on June 5th, 1980. He continued to farm until his retirement in June of 1990.
Floyd was an active member of the Elks Lodge and was well known for his sense of humour and ability to tell jokes. He was also predeceased by his wife Doris on January 1st, 1997, father Aubrey on July 7th, 1969, mother Sylvia on February 25th, 1989 and by his mother-in-law Rosie Meidinger on January 24th, 1997.
Floyd is survived by his daughters Linda Mueller and her husband Trevor and their children Justin and Chelsea of Braunwood, Texas; Rhonda Abbott and her husband Ron and their child Dayton of Edmonton; step-daughter Shirley (Lawrence) Gosling of Rainbow Lake and her children Stacy Gosling and fiance Laurie of Rocky Mountain House; Terra (Ivan Goodzeck) of Manning, and Robert Korolick of Quebec City; brother Barry (Grace) Evans of Bassano; sister Marion (Ed Rutschke) of Bassano as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Bassano. Rev. Fiona Wilkinson officiated. Honor guard were members of Bassano Elks Club.
Honorary pallbearers were Arnold Armstrong, Jess Chizik, Keyoshi Aimoto, Sunao Aimoto, Michael Steinbach and Richard Plumer. Active pallbearers were Gary Evans, Lawrence Gosling, Randy Evans, Hideo Nishida, Hal Evans and Gary Lee.
