GALARNEAU: Clayton Isaac Galarneau of Bassano. Alberta died on July 31, 1987 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary at the age of 77 years.
He was born at Nezperce, Idaho and came to Canada with his family in 1911 and hornesteaded at Galarneauville near Finnegan and moved to Gem in 1934.
He married the former Ethel Bradshaw on November 3, 1938 at Condor, Alberta and moved to the Condor area in 1941. He farmed and operated a saw mill, returned to Gem in 1950 and farmed there until moving to Bassano in 1957. He was employed with a feedmill and later with the town as foreman until retiring in 1968.
Surviving are his wife Ethel of Bassano, two sons Ronald and his wife Wilma of Gem and Gordon and his wife Eleanor of, Edmonton, a daughter Kathleen and her. husband Robert Dunne of Calgary, six grandchidren, Randy and Russell Galarneau, Norman and Jacqueline Galarneau, and Lana and Cody Dunne, a brother, Donald of Gem, a sister Wanda Miller of Bassano and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 4 at 2 p.m. in Knox Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Hector Rose officiating. Interment followed in the Bassano Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his six grandchildren.
