GALARNEAU – Neil Gordon Galarneau died as the result of a highway accident near Medicine Hat on June 22, 1981 at the age of 22 years.
He was born at Bassano and received his early schooling at Gem and high school at Bassano graduating in 1977.
He was employed by Ed Marquardt, Global Thermoelectic and was currently employed by Western Land Services, Medicine Hat.
He was an avid sports fan and played hockey from early childhood also volleyball which he later coached. He played baseball with the senior men’s team in Bassano.
Surviving are his parents, Don and Gwen Galarneau of Gem; four sisters, Helen of Lloydminister, Mrs. Ruth Leger, Sylvia and Valerie, all of Bassano; a brother David and grandfather Fred Galarneau and nephew, Brandon Leger.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 25 at 3:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Bassano with the Rev. C.E. Mortimer and the Rev. H.W. Rose officiating. Interment will follow in the Bassano Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Robert Delagarde, Robert Lassiter, Darcy Ursulan, Kent Royer, Kelly Wallace and Ed Marquardt.
