HAYES – Frank Gerald Hayes died in the Bassano General Hospital on May 23, 1990 at the age of 78 years.
He was born in Ontario and came west with his parents to Gull Lake, Saskatchewan and later moved to Bassano.
He was employed with the CPR, a local garage and retired as a caretaker of the Bassano Post Office at the age of 65 years.
He was predeceased by his wife Jessie in 1986, a son Sandy and daughter Mary, both in 1938.
Surviving are a son Bill who resided with his father, a daughter Margaret (Bob) Scott and their children, Suzanne of Calgary and Stephen of Bassano, two brothers, Jay of Bassano and Charles (Swede) and his wife Jean of Vegreville, two sisters,
Kay (Jack) Gamble and Peggy (Harry) Pragnell all of Bassano and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Columba Catholic Church in Bassano with the Reverend Bernie Black officiating. Interment followed in the Bassano Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Stephen Scott, Brian Buck, Roger Buck, Albert Buck and Dean Orton.
