Hewko, John

HEWKO – John Hewko died on May 11, 1990 in the Bassano General Hospital at the age of 85 years.

He was born in the Ukraine and was employed with the CPR for 25 years and moved to Bassano in 1970.

He married Christina of Rolling Hills on June 27, 1987 and was a member of the Damsiters Drop-In Centre.

He was predeceased by his first wife Lydia on April 30, 1977.

Surviving are his wife Christina of Bassano and his step-children, Leona (Donald) Zubot of Bassano, Cindy (Barry) Bogart of Breton, Darlene (Jerry) Bogart of Breton, Ted (Allicen) Zubot of Medicine Hat, Darcey (Pauline) Zubot of Medicine Hat,

Robert Zubot of Bassano and Calgary. Tina (Albert) Evenzky of Okotoks and numerous step-grandchildren among them a special step-grandson Michael Zubot of Bassano.

Funeral service was held on Monday, May 14 at 2 p.m. at Bassano Anglican Church with the Reverend David Asher officiating. Interment followed in the Bassano Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers. were Jake Wilims, John Baran Sr. Albert Evenzky, Merlin Goodheart, Mike Hura, John Gordon Bud Larson and Manuel Mederios. Active pallbearers were Rodney Siegle, Glen Bender, Robert Zubot, Tony Pfefferie, Ken

Evenzky and Karl Aimoto.
