James, Lucy Etta

JAMES – Lucy Etta James (nee McBride) passed away in Brooks on November 6th, 1998 at the age of 69 years.

Born in Cluny on January 3rd, 1929 she married Don James and as he was employed with CPR they resided in numerous places in southern Alberta before settling in Bassano in 1950 and Tilley in 1956.

Lucy moved to Brooks in 1968 and had resided here since. She entered the Newbrook Lodge in 1988. Lucy was a Volunteer for the Tuck Shop in the Brooks Health Centre for many years, a position which gave her much pleasure. She enjoyed bingo when health permitted, the bright lights of Christmas, special occasions and playing the piano. Lucy will be always remembered for the love she had for her children and their families, for her quick wit and great sense of I humour. She was predeceased by her only son Blaine on February 7th, 1992 and recently by her brother Dale McBride.

Lucy is survived by her loving children Donna (Lorne) Everett, Susan (Arn) Breitkreutz and Joan James (Doug Brennan); 9 grandchildren, 2 sisters Rose and Nellie; 2 brothers Jim and Dick and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10th from Knox Presbyterian Church, Bassano. Rev. Fiona Wilkinson officiated. Pallbearers were Greg, Chris and Lorne Everett, Arnold and Quinn Breitkreutz and Doug Brennan.
