Manning, Katherine Lorinda

MANNING – Katherine (Loie) Lorinda Manning beloved wife of Gordon Manning of Bassano, Alberta passed away December 2nd, 1992 in Brooks at the age of 79 years.

She was born at Lyleton, Manitoba, and was raised at Aneroid, Sask., where she married in June of 1947 and with her husband moved to Edmonton and in 1961 to Bassano where they published the Bassano Times until their retirement in 1975. Loie had been a member of the Royal Purple, Eastern Star and the Willing Workers. She entered the Brooks Health Centre in October of 1991 and had resided there since.

She is also survived by her loving children, Gary Manning and his wife Debbie and their children Loie, Robert, Tandice and Carlie of Yarrow, B.C., June McArthur and her husband Bruce and their children Amy, Brad and John of Gleichen; two brothers Ken Murray of Fort Qu’Apelle, Sask. and Mac Murray of Moose Jaw, Sask.; one sister Ruth Zoorkan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Bassano on Saturday, December 5th at 2 p.m. with they Reverend Hector Rose officiating. Interment followed at Bassano Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were Helen Stewart, Esther Wood, Betty Ann Bodmer, Alberta Stiles, Vi Armstrong, Winnie Stiles, Kay Bell and Mae Pelchat. Active pallbearers were Neil Clark, Terry Clark, Doug Barlow, Les Lunseth, Ed Chapman and Ken Sawatsky.
