PEAKE: Mamie Peake of Bassano, Alberta died in the Brooks Health Centre on May 22, 1987 at the age of 80 years.
She was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, U.S.A. and moved to Hussar Alberta in 1918 with her parents Harry and Jessie Mofford.
She married Walter Peake on December 6, 1923 and for the next 40 years they worked on ranches, held rodeos, worked at the Calgary Stampede and operated their own ranch at Finnegan returning to Bassano in 1963.
She was a true pioneer, a hard worker, devoted to her family and loved animals and flowers. During hard times she was always willing to share with others.
Funeral service was held on Monday, May 25 at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Bassano with the Reverend Andy Hoskin and the Reverend Hector Rose officiating. Interment followed in the Bassano Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sheldon Peake, Bill Peake, Stratton Peake, Rick Andrews, Rick Armstrong and Danny Peake.
Smith Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
