Salmond, George Washington

SALMOND – George Washington Salmond of Brooks, Alberta died in the Brooks Health Centre on September 27, 1985 at the age of 73 years.

He was born at Choteau, Montana, U.S.A, and came to Canada in 1919 with his parents to homestead at Lathom.

He was involved in many trades during his active years among them he was employed by the CPR. as a coyote hunter, trapper, fisherman, sheep shearer and prior to retirement as a caretaker at Kinbrook Park.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Rosemary, a son. George , two step-brothers, Sunny and Gene.

Surviving are his wife. Lillian of Brooks; two daughters. Georgina Ewing and her daughter Anna of Lodgepole, Alberta and Sandra and her husband Bob Brodie and son Tommy of Brooks; one son, Cameron of Brooks; two step-sons, Dennis and

Wayne of Brooks; 16 grandchildren; three sisters, Rosalee of Brooks. Martha of Turner Valley. lda of Hope. B.C.; two step-sisters, Emily of Salmon Ann. B.C. and Francis of Sundre.

Funeral service was held on Monday, September 30 at 2:30 p.m. in Smith Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Andy Hoskin officiating. Interment followed in the Bassano Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Archie Tateson, Harley Tateson, Syl Tateson. Bob Brodie , Rod Trembley and Charles Blazer.
