SAWATSKY – Henry J. Sawatsky passed away in the Brooks and District Health Centre – Long Term Care on October 29th, 1999 at the age of 86 years.
Born in Laird, Saskatchewan on December 7th, 1912, Henry farmed in Northern Saskatchewan from 1933 – 1950 at which time he moved his family to Three Hills and was employed with Kirk’s Furnaces until 1957. Henry then moved his family to Bassano where he had resided until 1997 when he became a resident of The Brooks and District Health Centre – Long Term Care Unit. Henry will always be remembered for the love for his family and gentle disposition.
He was predeceased by his wife Helen and one granddaughter Helen.
Henry is survived by his loving children; Ben and his wife Muriel of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pearl Bowers and her husband Maunsell of Edmonton, Ray and his wife Edith of Bassano, Ken and his wife Lynda of Bassano, Julie Fortin and her husband Clark of Bruderheim, Alberta, Don and his wife Jackie of Bassano, 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 2nd, 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church, Bassano. Rev. Ken Graham officiated.
Active pallbearers were Rodney Fortin, Wesley Fortin, Clayton Fortin, John Bowers, Brian Sawatsky, Marty Sawatsky, Kevin Sawatsky and Tom Wallace. Interment followed at the Bassano Cemetery.
