STILES: Mrs. May Gardner Stiles of Brooks, Alberta passed away in the Calgary General Hospital on November 2nd, 1990 at the age of 96 years.
Mrs. Stiles was predeceased by her husband Joel in 1957, infant daughter Doris and infant son Jackie, sons, George in 1940, Bill in 1987 and Ted in 1989.
She is survived by her loving children Gwen Nesbitt of Victoria, B.C., Norman (Em) Stiles of Ladysmith, B.C. and Bob (Effie) Stiles of Bassano, Alberta, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
Born in Eganville, Ontario on May 9th, 1894, she moved west to Okotoks in 1912 and later that same year she moved to Bassano. She was employed as a telephone operator for Mr. Stiles and they were married shortly thereafter. May worked in the store, “Stiles the Druggist” from 1939 until 1945. She was a member of the Knox Presbyterian Church Ladies Aid and charter member of the O.E.S. Mary Keohane 96 of Bassano.
Funeral services were held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Bassano, on November 6th, 1990 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Hector Rose officiating. Interment followed in the Bassano Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers were John Stiles, Brad Stiles, Burt Stiles, Lanny Stiles, Michael Nesbitt, John Cormack, Bud Maynard, Ralph Hein, Nairn Nerland, Richardo Nordelli.
