TREIBER- Herbert Treiber of Bassano, Alberta died in the Bassano General Hospital on November 20, 1986 at the age of 81 years.
He was born at Sivabrono, Russia and came to Regina, Saskatchewan with his parents, moved to Schuler, Alberta in 1912 and to Bassano in 1923.
He married Dena Meidinger in 1927 at Olds, Alberta and returned to Schuler and then to Bassano in 1937 where he has resided since. .
He was involved in building and construction for many years and retired in 1980. He served for six years on the Bassano town council, was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Bassano and a member of the Pioneer Drop-In Centre.
He was predeceased by two brothers, five sisters, a granddaughter and a grandson.
Surviving are his wife Dena of Bassano; two daughters. Vena and her husband Robert Heryford of Bassano, Audrey and her husband Andy Gordichuk of Dawson Creek, B.C., three sons, Reuben and his wife Teresa of Bassano, Clifford and his wife Ina of Bassano and Richard of Calgary, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, five sisters, Emma Rempfert of Medicine Hat, Katherina Johnson of Spokane, Louise Pudwell of Medicine Hat, Martha Reich of Chilliwack and Anne Aman of Medicine Hat, three brothers, Fred of Medicine Hat, Bert of Kelowna and Jack of Medicine Hat.
Funeral service was held on Monday, November 24 at 2 p.m. in Knox Presbyterian Church in Bassano with the Reverend Hector Rose officiating. Interment followed in the Bassano Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Doug Heryford, AIIan Treiber, David Treiber, Scott Collett, Dale Kaiser and Darwyne Wood.
