BOOTH – A pioneer district resident, Ralph Leroy Booth died in the Newell Nursing Home on May 22, 1984 at the age of 91 years.
He was born at Woonsocket, South Dakota, U.S.A. on May 2, 1893 and resided at Dunseth, North Dakota and came to Alberta with his family in 1910 to Lomond; Alberta.
In 1913, he homesteaded on a farm east of Wardlow.
He married the former Florence Sparks on March 21, 1921 and moved to Brooks in the same year and was employed by the CPR in the construction of the irrigation system. He was a ditch rider at Elizabeth in the Tilley district and in 1932 began farming in the Tilley district and retired to the Village of Tilley in 1955.
He became a resident of the Newbrook Lodge in 1975 and entered Newell Nursing Home in January 1983.
He was predeceased by his wife, Florence on March 18,1966.
Surviving are a son, Bill and his wife, Cleo of Brooks; a daughter, Ruby and her husband, Charlie Simpson of Brandon; five grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; a brother, Cliff of Lomond; two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Conklin of Basha and Mrs. Gladys Hadley of Pomona, California and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Friday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church in Tilley with the Reverend W. Braaten officiating. Interment followed in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Glen Johnson, Ben Colbens, Carl Henrickson, Stan Pederson, Dale Christiansen and Melvin Fieldberg.
