CHRISTENSEN – Andrew Otto Christensen died in the Brooks Health Centre on April 17, 1989 at the age of 95 years.
He was born at Hirtshals, Denmark and moved to Ruskin, Nebraska in 1910 and married the former Anna Gregersen on September 3, 1918 at Ruskin. He farmed there until moving to Tilley, Alberta in 1930 where he also farmed in the district.
He semi-retired in 1949 and was employed by the Department of Highways until retiring to Brooks in 1973.
He was predeceased by his wife Anna in 1974.
He was a founding member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Tilley.
He married Alice Andersen on March 29,1981.
He was also predeceased by a son Bernhardt in 1941, a daughter Dagney in 1931, grandson Glen in 1953, seven brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife Alice of Brooks, two sons Holger and his wife Mary Belle of Calgary and Ansgar and his wife Evelyn all of Calgary, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two brothers Carl and Oscar of Racine, Wisconsin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 19 (today) at 1 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooks with the Reverend Ken Grambo and the Reverend Rick Bergh officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church Cemetery in Tilley.
Pallbearers are Gordon Nielsen, Carl Hendrickson, Niels Hjorth, Harry Hjorth, Erland Christiansen and Dennis Petersen.
If friends desire memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or the charity of their choice.
