Flatla, Evelyn Palma

FLATLA – Evelyn Palma Flatla, widow of the late Lars Flatla, passed away in Brooks on February 18th, 1998 at the  age of 84 years. Born in Fairdale, North Dakota on November 29th, 1913 she came to Canada as a child with her parents to the Tide Lake area and in 1923 moved to the Tilley area. Evelyn and Lars were married on October 18th, 1935 in the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Medicine Hat. She resided in the Tilley area until moving to Brooks in 1992 to the Newbrook Lodge. Evelyn was a member  of the Bethany Lutheran Church and had served as part time organist. She will be best remembered for her love of both music and of the simple things that nature had to offer.

She was predeceased by her husband Lars on August 4th, 1978 and a son Henry on April 16th, 1992.  She is survived by her loving children Myrna Jakobsen and her husband Jorgen of Tilley, her son Dale and his son Travis of Tilley; daughter-in-law Catherine Flatla of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-  grandchildren; her sister Mabel Flatla of Brooks and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 23rd from Bethany Lutheran Church, Tilley. Rev. Jim Krause officiated.

Honorary pallbearers were all her many friends. Active pallbearers were Erik Flatla, Jeff Flatla, Mark Jakobsen, Brent Jakobsen, Mike Lynch and Randy Flatla.
