SKANDERUP – Kristine Skanderup, widow of the late Reverend Anton Skanderup (October 24, 1959) died at Brooks, Alberta on November 28, 1989 at the age of 98 years.
She was born at Myrhoj, Denmark and was married at Blair, Nebraska on May 16, 1918. Over the years she resided at Scranton and Moorhead, Iowa, Laurel, Nebraska, the Tilley district, Redvers, Sask. and Salmonhurst, New Brunswick before retuning to Tilley in 1948. The Skanderups were pioneers and founding members of the Bethany Lutheran Church.
She was also predeceased by her son Verne in 1935, two grandsons Keith and Clark Colbens, her brother Niels Jensen and her sister Marie Fredgaard.
Surviving are her children, Milton of Brooks, Leo and his wife Elsie of Tilley, Agnete Eskesen and her husband Niels of Sundre, Naomi Olsen and her husband
Allmann of Redvers, Sask., Ruth Colbens and her husband Ben, Alvin and his wife Martha, Clifford and his wife Evelyn, Verner and his wife Ruth all of Tilley; 28 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; her brother Soren Jensen in Denmark and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooks on Saturday, December 2 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Elmer Rawling officiating. Interment followed in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Tilley.
Pallbearers were David Eskesen, Dennis Olsen, Lloyd Colbens, Gerald Skanderup, Merlin Skanderup and Stephen Skanderup.
