Skanderup, Ruth Margit

SKANDERUP – Ruth Margit Skanderup beloved wife of Verner Skanderup of Tilley. Alberta died in the Brooks Health Centre on July 2, 1991 at the age of 53 years.

She was born at Brooks, Alberta on December 22, 1937 and was raised in the Tilley community.

She married Verner Skanderup also of Tilley on May 11, 1957.

She was a willing and respected member of the community and actively served in many ways in her church. Bethany Lutheran of Tilley. She shared her love, faith, warmth and hospitality with everyone she met and will be remembered for her gentle ways, loving heart and smiling face.

She was predeceased by her father Ingeman Sorensen, and a nephew Tim Sitler both in 1990.

Surviving are her devoted husband Verner and their children Joyce (Harold) Rust of Saskatoon, Sask., Stephen (Judy) Skanderup of Tilley, Curtis Skanderup of Brooks, Gloria (Terry) Schroeder of Tilley, five grandchildren, her mother Lilli Sorensen of Brooks, one brother, Gordon (Sophie) Nielsen of Tilley, sisters, Doris (Henry) Reitze of Medicine Hat, Edith (Glenn) Sitler of Sherwood Park, a brother Carl (Joanne) Sorensen of Edmonton and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooks on Saturday, July 6 at 10 a.m. with the Reverend Ken Grambo, the Reverend Elmer Rawling and Pastor Breck McHan officiating. Interment followed in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were John Straub, Dean Hendricksen, Ken Skriver, Harland Skriver, Larry Jasperson, Roy Cook, Clifford Skanderup and Tom Nosterud. Active pallbearers were Darren Skanderup, Dennis Olsen, David Eckesen, Peter Nielsen, Edward Skanderup and Brian Skanderup.
