Skriver, Astrid

SKRIVER – Astrid Skriver, widow of the late Rasmus Skriver passed away in Brooks on July 16, 1992 at the age of 85 years.

She was born in Denmark on June 19, 1907 and came to Canada with her parents in 1907 to Olds. They moved to Dickson and later to Kevisville where she received her education. Astrid worked in Calgary before marrying in Dickson on July 15, 1934, and with her husband moved to High River and in 1939 to Tilley where they farmed until retiring in 1977. She moved to Brooks in 1978 and had resided in the Brooks Health Centre Auxiliary Wing since August of 1987.

Mrs. Skriver had been a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Tilley and later Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women.

She was predeceased by her husband, February 7, 1992, a daughter-in-law Opel Skriver, three sisters and one brother.

Surviving are her loving children, Gordon Skriver and his wife Alice, Ken Skriver and his wife Arlene all of Tilley, Bob Skriver and his wife Doris of Calgary, Margaret Daniels and her husband Bruce of Rolling Hills, Elisabeth Daynard of Brooks, Earl Skriver and his wife Coleen, and Harland Skriver and his wife Leona of Tilley; eighteen grandchildren; six great­ grandchildren; her sisters, Anna Demenuk and her husband Chick of Caroline and Meta Bensen and her husband Buster of Kevisviiie; her brother Alfred Andersen and his wife Ruby of Kevisville; brother-in­ law Max Olsen of Calgary; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, July 21 at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Ken Grambo officiating. Interment followed in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Tilley.

Pallbearers were Doug Skriver, Greg Skriver, Calvin Skriver, Brad Daniels, Darwin Daniels, Darcy Daniels and Dana Skriver.
