ALBRIGHT – Walter Albright, beloved husband of Gertrude Albright of Brooks, passed away in Calgary on December 18, 1998 at the age of 65 years.
Born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on May 19th, 1933 Walter farmed in the Tilley District for many years before moving to Brooks in 1989. He married Gertrude Dyck on June 24th, 1957 in Medicine Hat. Walter had owned and operated the Oxford Hotel since coming to Brooks, work that he dearly loved. His friendly attitude, easy manner and ability to talk with anyone made him a natural for the hotel. He was a member of the Alberta Hotel Association and the Royal Canadian Legion, EID Branch, Brooks.
Walter was predeceased by his father Herman in 1964, mother Lydia in 1991 and brother Gustav in 1935.
Besides his wife Gertrude, Walter is survived by his loving family, daughters Shirley of Calgary, Jo-Ann of Drayton Valley, Donna and her husband Ken of Brooks, Patsy and her husband Bryce of Drayton Valley; son Wally of Calgary and 9 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23rd from Trinity Lutheran Church, Brooks. Rev. John Theiss officiating. Pallbearers are Bryce Olson, Ken Kerr, Fred Kruszelnicki, Doug Felker, Mike Hamilton and Randy Cote.
Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery. In memory of Walter, if friends desire memorial tributes may be made to either STARS, P.O.
