ALBUSH – Gustav Henry Albush of Brooks, Alberta died in the Brooks Health Centre on August 25, 1989 at the age of 91 years.
He was born On June 23, 1898 at Sintatoe, Lithuania and immigrated to Canada in 1914 with his sister Mary.
He farmed in the Webb and Maple Creek, Saskatchewan area with a fellow Lithuanian John Stanker and also worked on road construction, in a slaughter house at Moose Jaw and at the Winnipeg Stock Exchange in 1932. He moved to Brooks to farm in 1933 on the Duke of Sutherland Farm with Joe and Mary Sakall. In 1935 Gust met and married Louise Girdauckis and took up farming in the One Tree area. In 1938 they moved to Rainier where they farmed for 31 years before retiring to Brooks in 1959.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Mary Sakall in 1935 and a son Raymond Gustaf Albush in 1985.
Surviving are his wife Louise of Brooks a daughter Dorothy (Emil) Flaig of CaIgary, a son George (Mary) Albush of Brooks, one grandson and a daughter-in- law Jean Albush of Lethbridge.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 30 (today) at 2 p.m. in Brooks United Church with the Reverend Barry Lyall officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Carl Anderson, Johnny Girdauckis, Wilson Trotter, Al Fox, Lawrence Dornan and Andy Link. Active pallbearers are Larry Albush, Ver- non Albush, Floyd Montcrief, Neil Dornan, Gordon Thoms and Steve Merkl.
If friends desire memorial donations may be made to the Brooks Health Centre Nursing Home.
