ALLOCK – Along-time resident of the Scandia district, Ernest Allock died at the age of 90 years in Brooks General Hospital September 26.
Born in Sutton-In -Ashfield, Nottingham, England, Mr. Allock came to Cartwright, Manitoba in March 1904, moving to Bottineau, North Dakota, later that same year, It was in North Dakota that he met and married the former Carolyne Syvertson. In 1908 they moved to Taber where he homesteaded in the River Bow district,
In 1924 he moved to Scandia where he farmed until 1967 when he retired, Mr. Allcock has resided at Newbrook Lodge for the past seven years, He was pre-deceased by his wife, Caroline, in 1950 a daughter, Hilda Perry, in 1969 and a son, Albert in 1970.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs Fred (Elizabeth) Fellger of Vauxhall, Mrs. Robert (Edith) Strader of Brooks, Mrs. Bert (Lilly) Wright of Vauxhall, Mrs. Orville (Mabel) Peterson of Medicine Hat, Mrs. Gordon (Kay) Barrett of Calgary and Mrs. Iren Shutz of 100 Mile House, B.C., two sons. Samuel and Martin of Scandia, 26 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two brothers and a sister in England.
Funeral services was held Monday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Smith Memorial Chapel, Reverend C. W. Hutton officiating, Interment followed in Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gail Allcock, Ronald Allcock, Leonard Peterson, George Perry Fred F
Fellger Jr., and Tom Wright.
