ANDERSON — Edith Jeanette Anderson passed away in Brooks on October 13th, 2000 at the age of 79 years.
Edith was born in Maple Creek on March 6th, 1921 and in 1937 moved with her family to the Clancy District in Duchess. She and George were married on July 25th, 1940 in Redcliff and resided in the Duchess Community until moving to Brooks. Edith had worked as cashier in the Richmond’s Store for many years and after they closed their operation, she worked at the IGA until retiring. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, EID Legion, Brooks. Edith will be remembered for her love for her family, for her sense of humor and for her special way with people.
She was predeceased by her son Ron on March 17th, 1984; parents Godfrey and Jeanette; sisters Phyllis Olset, Dorothy Stanker and Ruth Hansen and l brother Richard Kuhl.
She is survived by her loving family, husband George of Brooks; daughter Georgina Sorkilmo and her husband Peter of High River; grandsons Greg in Ottawa, Eric (Lea) in High River and Brian in Oakville, Ontario; sister Esther Dixon in Vernon, BC; brothers Malcolm and Amos in Claresholm and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM from Smith Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 17th. Rev. John Theiss officiated. Pallbearers were Brian Hansen, Gary McCrady, Norm Villeneuve and Eric Sorkilmo. Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery. In memory of Edith, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks T1R 1B3.
