Anderson – A sad death occurred at the Bassano hospital on Friday July 25th, when Helen Matilda beloved wife of O. J. Anderson of Millicent passed away after a short illness. She was taken to the hospital on Thursday, with pneumonia and died on Friday. The remains were brought to Brooks Saturday and interred at the Brooks cemetery. Mr C.R. Westgate, in the absence of Rev. S. Marshall, conducted the funeral service, which was held in the Union Church on Monday. Only her immediate relatives living in the district were present.
Helen Matilda Anderson was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hogensen of Cooperstown, N.D., and was born of Dec 18, 1876. She came to Millicent with her husband and family two years ago and had in that course of time made many intimate friends. Besides her husband there are left to mourn her demise, ten children, all at home; five brothers, Otto Hogensen, Wy; Joseph in Montana; Louie in N. Dakota; August in N. Dakota and Edward in Brooks; two sisters, Mrs Carl Rue and Mrs Laurence Stenbro, in North Dakota.
