Mr. James Robert “Bob” Anderson passed away in Brooks on November 9th, 1996 at the age of 74 years.
Born at Boyne Lake, Alberta on October 19th, 1922 Bob was raised and schooled in the Boyne Lake/McRae area where his family ran the local store. He joined the army in 1942 and served in Canada until his discharge in 1945.
He married the former Dorthea “Betty” Cherrett on March 30th, 1946 in Calgary and they lived in Ashmont, moving to Brooks in 1947 where Bob went to work for the Postal Service. He remained there until his retirement in 1978. Bob was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and had served as president and vice-president.
Bob was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty on June 20th, 1996, daughter Mary Van Oene in 1968, and son George in 1983. He is survived by his loving family; sons Jim (Fran) of Myrnam and their children Tim and Clayton, Fred (Glenda) of Brooks and their children Jeff and Jamie, daughters Rene (John Suhai) of Tilley and their children Wes (Candi), Denise (Wellington Evans), Sherry (Brent Lloyd) and Kevin, and May Dunne (Butch) and their children Carrie (Kevin Duxbury) and Chris (Rhonda), daughter-in-law Rose (Ross) and her children Ryan and Tyler and two great-grandchildren Kyron Evans and Allison Dunne. He is also survived by his sister Irene Norn of St. Paul, AB., sister-in-law Renee (Gus Sporrie) of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
