BAHLER – Russell John Bahler of Tilley, Alberta died on August 12, 1989 at the age of 46 years.
He was born in Lethbridge on November 2, 1942 and resided with his parents in Vauxhall.
He married Ethel Friars on May 8, 1965 and moved to Stettler and Duncan, B.C. before moving to Tilley where he has resided since. .
He was active in the community and owned two companies. He served on the Tilley village council (part of the time as mayor), also 11 years as a volunteer firefighter until he bought his farm a year ago and was a member of the Lions Club.
He was predeceased by his mother Eldora in 1978 and his father Adolf in 1985 and a brother Douglas in 1989.
Surviving are his wife Ethel Bahler of Tilley, a daughter Tracey Bahler and her fiance Daniel Willard, two sons Kevin and his wife Lorenda and Todd, a grandson Dustin, a brother Wayne (Gloria) Bahler of Duncan, B.C., a sister-in-law Bev Bahler of Vauxhall and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at the Brooks United Church on Wednesday, August 16 (today) at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Bob Warrington officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the Tilley Lions Club, Keith Benson, George Muschiol, John Buday, Einer Larsen, Jim Stewart and Joe Toth. Active pallbearers are John Tondevold, Bill Bailley, Vic Yaroslawsky, Jim Yaroslawsky, Terry Peterson and Grant Jordan.
If friends desire memorial donations may be made to the Cardiac Unit No. 9 Foothills Hospital, Calgary or STARS.
