BARBER – A resident of the prairie country for nearly 60 years, Joseph Henry (Harry) Barber of Brooks died on October 26, 1974 at the age of 80 years.
He was born in Asterville, Ontario and came to Suffield, Alberta in 1916. He married the former Germaine Mercier in the same year and farmed in the Suffield area until moving to Cassils in 1930. He farmed there until semi-retiring to Brooks in 1943. He also worked as a carpenter and handyman for a number of years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Germaine, in 1955.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs Marvin, (Mary Louise) Galloway of Edmonton; six grandchildren and one brother, William of Calgary.
Requiem Mass was held on Tuesday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. F.R. Mongeau officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Bell, Joe Dumontel, George Philpott and Ron Wilkie,
Smith Funeral Home, directors of service.
