BARTLETT — Paul Bartlett, beloved husband of Florence Bartlett of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on May 27th, 2002 at the age of 78 years. Born at Consul, Saskatchewan on April 19th, 1924, Paul was raised and received his education there. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force after graduating Grade Twelve and served as an Air Frame Mechanic until his discharge, after the war. Paul moved to Kimberley, British Columbia to work in the mines and later to Creston to work with his dad in an apple orchard. He moved to Duchess in June of 1950 and opened Bartlett’s General Store. Paul and Florence Carlson were married on June 30th, 1952 in Saskatoon. They sold the store in May of 1980 and Paul became involved in Real Estate. Paul and Florence moved to Brooks in July of 1985. He had served as Councilor and Mayor of Duchess, Councilor for the County of Newell and as Chairman of both the Hospital and School Boards. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and piloting his airplane. Paul will be especially remembered for his love for his family, for his independent thinking, for the twinkle in his eye and for his consideration of others. He was predeceased by 1 brother Dave and 4 sisters, Anne, Dorothy, Laura and Alece. Paul is survived by his loving family, his wife Florence; 4 children, son Doug and his wife Susan of Calgary and their children Shyloh and his ﬁancee Tracey and Jeramy; daughter Cheryl Bartlett and her husband George of Sydney, Nova Scotia; son Keith and his wife Teresa of Brooks and their children Dustin and Brendan; daughter Wendy Metcalf and her husband Brad of Brooks and their children Michael, Matthew and Chandel; brother James of Vancouver and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 30th from TrinityLutheranChurch, Brooks. Rev. John Theiss officiated. In memory of Paul, if friends desire, memorial tributes may be made to either Trinity Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 811 Cassils Road West, Brooks T1R OE4; Brooks and District Health Foundation, Bag 300, Brooks T1R 1B3 or charity of choice.
