BAUMANN – Helen Baumann passed away in Brooks on May 18th, 1999 at the age of 81 years.
Helen was born on September 27th, 1917 in Leader, Saskatchewan. She moved to Fox Valley with her family. Helen and August (Gus) were married at the Hilda Baptist Church on November 13th, 1936 and farmed in Schuler. They resided in several places among them Three Hills and Medicine Hat until moving to Rolling Hills in 1952. Together they operated the General Store and Restaurant until retiring in 1980. They came to Brooks in 1992 and had resided here since. Helen was a member of the Rolling Hills Drop-In Centre, the Rolling Hills Ladies Club and the Prairie Pioneers. Helen will be well remembered for her loving personality, for her heart of gold and for her delicious raisin and apple pies.
She is survived by her beloved husband Gus of 62 years; her loving children Harvey and his wife Ruth of Airdrie, Shirley Palko and her husband Tony of Daysland and Beverly Avery and her husband Don of Gem; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Martha Haskel of Three Hills and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 :00 a.m. on Friday, May 21 st from Smith Memorial Chapel. Pastor Terry Melnychuk officiated.
Honorary pallbearers were Nip and Jean Holden, Fred Nitz and Betty Leask and Ernie and Dorothy Panting. Active pallbearers were Greg Greke, Brian Baumann, Curtis Avery, Gail Shott, Tannis Avery and Ken Avery.
