Beattie, Albert Brown

BEATTIE – One of the original settlers in the Rolling Hills community when it was opened for settlement in 1940. Albert Brown Beattie died June 25, 1975 in Brooks at the age of 52.

Born in Shamrock, Sask., he came to Rolling Hills when he was 17, farming until 1942 when he enlisted in the Perth Regiment of the Canadian Army Infantry.

After four years service he was discharged in March 1946 and had resided in the district since.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs Margaret Bettie, Brooks; two brothers, John and Harold of Rolling Hills; six sisters, Mrs. Mary Nixon, Fort Saskatchewan; Mrs. Marjorie Oliver, Calgary; Mrs Muriel Russell, Brooks; Mrs. Iris Nixon, Edmonton; Mrs. Nancy Thomas, Flat Bush, Alta. and Mrs. Lillian Mallas, HayLakes, Alta.

Funeral service was held Saturday, June 28 at two-thirty o’clock in Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks, with Rev. C.W. Hutton officiating. Interment was in Brooks Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ed Hanke, George Hanke, Frank Zahenaiko, Bob Holmes, Jim McConkey and George Albush.
