BEAUCHENE – Edith Charlotte Beauchene died on July 6, 1989 at the age of 62 years .
She was born on August 29, 1926 at Wayne, Alberta, residing there until the age of 9 years when she moved to Vancouver, B.C. At age 16 she returned to Alberta and lived in Medicine Hat where she worked in a bakery, later she worked in the Calgary area as a house keeper.
In the late forties she came to Brooks where she was employed by “Doc” Anderson on his sheep ranch.
She married Eli J. (Smokey) Beauchene in 1953 at Brooks, Alberta and had 2 children.
She was predeceased by her husband Smokey, her mother, Kezia Sandberg and her step-father Sam Sandberg.
She is survived by her daughter Geri La Porte and grandson Stewart LaPorte of Lethbridge, her son Jay Beauchene of Brooks, Alberta, father James S. Wallace of Vancouver, B.C., sisters Norma Marks of Seattle Washington and family, Lucille Nelson of Victoria, B.C., her brother Roland Wallace of Bend, Oregon and family and many cousins.
Pallbearers were Terry Gunderson, John Brownlee, Billy McBride, Ian Parson, Roy Vorra and Isaac Thiessen.
Funeral services were held on July 10, 1989 at Smith’s Memorial Chapel with Father John Petravicius officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
