BECK – Chris Beck of Brooks, Alberta died on November 3, 1980 in the Brooks Health Centre at the age of 82 years.
He was born at Lowell, Henry County, Iowa and later moved to Owen, Wisconsin. He came to Redcliff, Alberta in 1917 and homesteaded at Bingville in 1919. In 1921 he moved to Gull Lake , Sask., and farmed until returning to Bingville in 1927, He farmed there until moving to the Buffalo district also farming there until moving to Brooks in 1959 where he has resided since.
He married the former Eileen Olson on May 18, 1948.
He was a member of the Prairie pioneers and the Brooks and DistrictMuseum.
Surviving are his wife, Eileen of Medicine Hat; two sons, Peter of Brooks and George of Duchess; one daughter, Mrs. Marie Chorney of Duchess; one grandchild; three sisters. Mrs. Catherine Johnson of Medicine Hat, Mrs Lily Theede of Calgary and Mrs. Johnanna Bailiff of Bloomington, Minnesota.
Funeral service will be held at Smith Memorial Chapel on Thursday, November 6 at 2 pm with the Rev. George G. Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks, Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are Slim Davidson, Pat Hay, Pete Keinick and Frank Stevens, Active pallbearers are Gib Gilham, Leonard Gilbert, William Hanson, Bob Johnson Bill Mapes and M.A. Valli.
