BECK – A resident of the Eastern Irrigation District for the past 60 years. William Audolph Beck of Brooks, Alberta died on October 11, 1980 in the Brooks Health Centre at the age of 85 years.
He was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, moved to Oklahoma with his parents and married the former Winnifred Davis in Montana in 1917.
He came to Canada in 1920 to the Duchess district where he farmed and ranched until retiring to Brooks in 1969 residing her since.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Easter Star and the Brooks United Church.
Surviving are his wife, Winnifred of Brooks; three sons, Donald and Carl of Brooks and Lester of Cochrane; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Josephine Beck of Portland, Oregon.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 14 at 1:30 pm in Smith Memorial Chapel with the Rev. George G. Scott officiating, Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Jack Irving, Bob Gray, Charles Douglas, Norval Shuttleworth, Cecil Salser, OwenLake, and Dan Inda. Active pallbearers were Alfred Lawson, Robert Lore, William Tell, Kenneth Rust, Rufus Chudleigh and Ed Kraner.

BECK – A pioneer resident of Duchess, Alberta, Winnifred Reynolds Beck died on March 6, 1982 in the Calgary General Hospital at the age of 87 years.
She was born at Greenfield, Iowa, USA and moved with her family to Oklahoma as a youngster in a covered wagon to the Yukon district.
She taught school in Montana and married there in 1917.
She moved to Duchess in 1920 and to Brooks in 1969 where she resided until the fall of 1981 when due to ill health she entered the Forest Grove Nursing Home in Calgary.
She was a charter member of the women’s group of the Duchess United Church and a life member of the U.C.W. of the Brooks United Church.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill, on October 11, 1980.
Surviving are three sons, Don and Carl of Brooks and Lester of Cochrane; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 10 (today) at 2 p.m. in Smith Memorial Chapel with the Reverend Jim Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Brooks Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Alf Lawson, Bob Lore, Bill Tell Senior, Bud Trimmer, Ed Kramer and Jim Ellis.
