BELANGER – Matilda Belanger, widow of the late Victor Belanger, passed away in Brooks, Alberta on October 8th, 1999 at the age of 71 years.
Born in St. Jean L’Evangeliste, Quebec Matilda grew up in Carleton, Quebec. She married Victor on September 3rd, 1960 residing in Montreal and Fort Simpson before coming to Brooks in 1975. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brooks,had worked at Newell Vegetable Plant for several years and more recently with Seniors’ OutReach. Matilda will be remembered as a very caring person for her family and friends.
She was predeceased by Victor on January 8th, 1997.
Matilda is survived by her loving son Andy and his wife Cathy and their son Marc of Calgary; 3 sisters Madeline Daoust of Montreal, Evelyn Bourgoin of Quebec and Lucette Laundry of Quebec and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 13th from Smith Memorial Chapel. Father Bryan Frank officiating. Pallbearers are Luke Wyna, Paul Post, Butch Dunne, Art Rushka, Don Cretin and Robert Penner.

BELANGER – Mr. Joseph Victor Belanger beloved husband of Mrs. Mathilda Belanger of Brooks. passed away on January 8th, 1997 at the age of 73 years.
Born in St. Omer, Quebec, Victor spent his early years there before moving to a variety of communities inluding FortChimo and Rankin Inlet. He married the former Mathilda Landry on September 3rd,1960 in Schefferville, Quebec and they resided in Montreal and FortSimpson before moving to Brooks in 1975. Victor had worked as a heavy duty mechanic for all of his life, most recently with Plains Perforating until his retirement in 1986. Victor will be remembered as a very quiet man who was devoted to his family.
He is also survived by his son Andy of Calgary; his brother Simon and his wife Gertrude of Rimouski. Quebec; a sister Esther “Mimi” Belanger of Carleton, Quebec and numerous other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Monday, January 13th at 10:30 a.m. from Smith’s Memorial Chapel, Rev. Bryan Frank officiated, Interment followed at Brooks Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Post, Luke Wyna, Don Cretin, Art Rushka, Randy Cote and Monty Mortensen. If friends desire memorial tributes may be made to BrooksHealthCenter – Gentle Care Unit.
