BENTZ – Edmund Bentz passed away in Brooks on September 27th, 1998 at the age of 76 years.
Born in Bristol, Saskatchewan on July 10th, 1922 Ed had resided with his family in various places in Saskatchewan. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army from 1943 until his discharge in 1946 when he came to Brooks. Ed married Bertha Borge on September 1st, 1952. He had worked for the EID, had driven trucks for different companies in the area and 18 years ago started painting homes, a business that he operated until retiring in 1987.
He will be best remembered for the love he had for his family and friends, for his sense of humor and for his willingness to help.
Ed was predeceased by his daughter Vicki on August 20, 1978, 2 brothers Jack and Phil and 2 sisters Kate and Lydia.
He is survived by his best friend and companion, his wife of 46 years Bertha Bentz of Brooks; sisters Elsie Albrecht of Calgary and Irene Doll of Williams Lake, B.C.; brothers John of Edmonton and Gus, Harry and Royall of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1st from Brooks Cemetery. Reverend John Theiss officiating.
Active pallbearers are Don Walker, Wayne Duxbury, Gary Turnbull, Kevin Duxbury, Kevin Thokle and Darren Wagar. Flowers gratefully declined.
