BETTS – Harold Charles (Bud) Betts of Brooks, Alberta died on October 12, 1992 at the age of 66 years.
He was born at Raymond, Alberta and served in the Navy before coming to Brooks. He married Emily Wagner in 1950 and was a businessman in Brooks for many years. He owned Bud’s Cafe and B
& B Shoe Repair, was a cook at Kentucky Fried Chicken for many years and drove a school bus.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman and sportsman and enjoyed horseshoes, tennis, camping and motorcycling and had a passion for model airplanes and flying.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister Effie.
Surviving are his wife Emily of Brooks; four daughters, Sharon (Bob) McBean, Sandra (Ernie) McKenzie of Brooks, Debbie (Larry) Nom of Ashmont, B.C. and Bonnie (Larry) Helm of Brooks; two sons, Cameron (Melinda) of Brooks and Avery of Brooks; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, lIene Lyons of Calgary, Lenna (Clarence) Pacy of South Surrey, B.C. and LeVeve (Noel) Crapo of Rosemary; three brothers, Howard (Doris) of Kirkland, Wash., Lawrence of Calgary and Thorald ‘Inj’ (Wanda) of Brooks and numerous nieces and nephews. .
Funeral service was held at the LOS Church in Brooks on Friday, October 16 at 2 p.m. with Corwyn Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Betts, Thorald Betts and Bob McBean and active pallbearers were Troy McKenzie, Larry Helm, Derek Ku1m, Leroy Rhodes, Larry Nom and Ernie McKenzie.
