BIGNELL – Rebecca Levinia Bignell, beloved wife of Norman Bignell of Brooks, passed away peacefully in Brooks on January 4th, 2003 at the age of 77 years. Born in Kitscoty,Alberta Rebecca lived in a variety of communities in Alberta and Saskatchewan. She married Norman Bignell on December 25th, 1951 in Sibbald,Alberta and resided in Youngstown. They retired to Brooks in 1970 where they have resided since. Rebecca loved her family, reading, writing, and animals, especially horses and the ranch life. She will be remembered for her kind, gentle and loving nature and for her smile. Rebecca was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Ada Schaumleffel, 2 sisters and a brother. Besides her husband she is also survived by her loving family, 2 sons Larry Bignell of Brooks and Merv Bignell and his wife Rose of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan; 4 grandchildren, Trevor Bignell, Amanda (Clint) Weston, Patrick Bignell and Kelly Bignell; 1 sister Ann (Bruce) Pratt of Esther,Alberta; 3 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 8th from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. Jim Lochhead officiating. Honorary pallbearers are all of Rebecca’s family and friends. Active Pallbearers are Trevor Bignell, Pat Bignell, Kelly Bignell, Clint Weston, Bruce Bignell and Jerry Pratt. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery.
