Blackmer, Clarence Herman

BLACKMER – Clarence (Dutch) Herman Blackmer of Brooks died on October 12, 1977 in the Brooks General Hospital at the age of 79 years.

He was born in Alberta Lea, Minnesota, attended school there an moved to Bracken, Sask., in 1911 with his family where they homesteaded.

He married the former Margaret McColl at Climax, Sask.. in 1925. He operated a barber shop and pool hall at Bracken until 1940 when he moved to Rolling Hills where he was employed by the EID. He moved to Hays in 1952 and was employed by the PFRA retiring in July 1964.

He moved to Calgary where he resided until March of this year when he came to Brooks to reside in Newbrook Lodge.

Surviving are his wife Margaret of Brooks; two daughters, Mrs. Allen (Audrey) Cousins of Burma, Mrs. William (Madge)Sturm of Bassano; four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Cora Janson of Minnesota.

Funeral service was held on Friday, October 14 at 2 p.m. in Smith Memoria Chapel with Rev. G.G. Scott officiating. Interment followed in Brooks Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Clarence Rosdal, Halvar Rosdal, John McFarland, Vince Meier, Al Wolfer and Harold Wolfer.
