Blair, Robert John

BLAIR – Robert John Blair, resident of Duchess, passed away in Calgary on June 22, 1966. He was 73.

Born in Ireland he served in France from 1914-1918 in the British Imperial Army. He came from Ireland in 1927 to Crandall, Man. farming there until 1960 when he retired and moved to Duchess where he has since resided.

He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth of Duchess; seven sons, Robert Hugh Blair of Winnipeg, Mark, John Joseph, Ronald and Herbert, all of Calgary, David of McLennan, Roy of Duchess; six daughters, Mrs. Lillian Espey of Cardale, Man., Mrs. Jean Madill of Edmonton, Mrs. Isabel Anderson of Carberry, Man., Mrs. Daisy Watson of Bassano, Mrs. Florence Sparrow of Taber, Miss Dorothy Blair of Red Deer; also 43 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 25, 1966 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brooks Unite Church with Rev. Leonard Ling and Mr. Robin Hartley officiating. Interment followed in the Brooks Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Marlin Brubaker, Ken Torkelson, Phil Plew, Owen Lake, Laurence Walsley and Alan Reesor.
