Bone, Annie Irene & Lindon


BONE – Mr. Lindon Bone, beloved husband of 64 years on Mrs. Annie Bone of Brooks, passed away in Brooks on July 9, 1994 at the age of 86 years.

Lindon was born of March 29, 1908 at Magrath, Alberta and spent most of his early years there where hi met and married Annie Searle on October 16, 1929.

He was taught butchering by his grandfather a trade he would continue to use throughout his life at the Magrath Trading Company for many years. McKay’s Store in Warner, after retiring at the Brooks Co-op as well as from his own home.

In his early years he also worked in threshing crews in the sugar beet fields, breaking horses and cutting and hauling ice blocks. He lived in Margrath most of his life except for a short pioneer trek north by  horse and wagon to Anilda and High Prairie, Alberta, In 1946 he moved his family to Clancy near Duchess and operated a farm for the Edington Pea Canning Factory. He later moved back to Magrath for two years and then returned to his own farm in the Clancy area near Duchess.

Following his retirement he did repairs at the Heritage and as a hobby recycled broken hockey sticks mostly from the Lakeside Spurs Hockey team to make unique artifacts, gardening tools and planters. He was an avid supporter and fan of local hockey and baseball teams also becoming deeply involves in ticket sales and travelling with the team. He loved to play practical jokes on family and friends, socialize with neighbours and take his wife and grandchildren to dances.

Lindon was predeceased by his parents. one brother, one sister, one son Ray, his son-in-law Rene Buteau, three grandsons, Bobby, Alan and Mark Irwin, tow granddaughters Linda Bone and Julie Ann Buteau and a great-grandson Philip Medrum.

He is also survived by his loving children Collen Coppieters and her husband Ceasar of Raymond, Julie Irwin and her husband Albert of Patricia, Joanne Buteau of Brooks and Kay Bone and his wife June of Duchess; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter; his sister Desmonia Harris and her husband Warren, his brother Waldon Gurney and his wife Rose and his brother-in-law and Garth Coleman and his wife Avilda all of Magrath; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brooks, on Wednesday, July 13th, at 2:00 p.m. Bishop Lorne Bateman officiating. Interment will follow in the Brooks Cemetery.

ANNIE IRENE SEARLE BONE – Passed  away in the Brooks Hospital in her 89th year on the 24th July, 2000.

She is survived by three daughters and one son: Colleen Coppieters (Ceasar) of  Raymond, Julia Irwin (Albert) of Patricia, Kay Bone (June) of Duchess, and Joanne  Buteau (Rene) of Antelope Creek. Twelve grandchildren, Patrick Brown (Diane) of  Edmonton, Nancy Coppieters (Gordon) of Raymond, Kate Schukle (Jay) of Edmonton, John Irwin (Kathy) and Todd  Irvin of Patricia, Gordon Bone (Marlene) of New Jersey, Wendy Lutes (Alan) of Brooks, Karen Ring (Ron) of Coaldale, Debbie Giles (David) of Calgary, Patsy deJong (Tom) of Brooks, and Jamie Buteau of Antelope Creek; 23 great-  grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Annie was predeceased by her  husband Lindon, her son Ray, her son-in- laws Rene Buteau and Wally Brown, and Ceasar Coppieters, three grandsons, Bobby Mark and Alan Irwin, two granddaughters Linda Bone and Julie Ann Buteau, one great-grandson, Philip Meldrum.

Annie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and will be  interred in the Brooks Cemetery. Funeral will be held at the BrooksLDSChurch at 40

– 10th Street West. Services will be held on Saturday, July 29th, 2000 at 2 p.m.
