BOYES – Mrs. Emily Boyes of Brooks, eighty-three years of age, passed away at the home of her daughters and son-in-law, Cpl. and Mrs G. Cherrett on Tuesday, August 22. She was born at Gillingham, Dorset, England and had lived in Canada since 1925.
She married Mr. Boyes, a Royal Marine serving at WalmerCastle and had been a widow for 42 years, making her home with her younger daughter, Mrs. Cherrett, for the past 25 years.
She came to Canada with Mr. and Mrs. Cherrett in 1925 to settle at Mannville, Alta. Mr. Cherrett, a veteran of the last war, rejoined the army and was posted to Medicine Hat a year ago, while the family made their home in Brooks.
Left to mourn her loss are three daughters, Mrs. J. R. Denslow of Ledbury, Herefordshire, Mrs. J. Stainer of Bournemouth, England and Mrs. Cherrett of Brooks; two granddaughters, Renee Cherrett and Sgt. D. E. Cherrett.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. Evans from St. Alban’s Church on Friday. August 25 and members of Brooks Branch, Canadian Legion, acted as pallbearers. Burial was made in the Brooks cemetery.
Floral tributes were received from; Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Dillion, the Pearson family, the Patterson family, Mr. and Mrs. W. Leathorn, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Wood, Mrs. Green, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Miller, the Neighbor Club and the Family.
