Breen, Henry George

BREEN – A resident of Brooks for only a short time, Henry George Breen, died suddenly at his home of Friday, March 29th. He came here from Warner early in March and was associated with O.H (Buster) Smith in the latter’s barber shop. He was 50 years of age.

Surviving are his wife, Kathleen; one daughter, Mrs. Marlene Mertz of Sterling; one son, Robert, of Brooks; six sisters, two brothers and two grandchildren.

Services were conducted by Rev. H. J. Illsey from Brooks United Church on Monday, April 1st and interment was in Brooks Cemetery with Smith Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were members of Brooks Elks Lodge.

Born in Springside, Sask., Henry (Hank) moved to B.C. in 1923 and then back to Yorkton two years later, He met and married his wife in Macoun, Sask,,in 1927. They lived at different points in Southern Saskatchewan and Alberta during the intervening years and were at Warner for five years prior to coming to Brooks. At one time Mr. Breen was the barber at Rolling Hills.
