BRODIN – Lydia Brodin passed away in Brooks on January 22nd, 1999 at the age of 81 years.
Born in Medicine Hat on December 21st, 1917 she received her schooling in Medicine Hat and later Stony Plain, Alberta. At the age of 16 she moved to Orion, Alberta to work as a housekeeper and caregiver. She married Rolf Brodin on March 16th, 1940 in Orion and moved to Antelope Creek where they resided until his death on January 28th, 1978. Lydia came to Brooks and on August 1 st, 1992 entered the Brooks Pioneer Villa . where she had resided since. She will be best remembered for her cooking, gardening and her kind personality. Lydia loved her family and friends, nature and doing needle work.
She was also predeceased by her parents, 4 sisters, 1 brother and 1 son-in-law Burt Crawford.
She is survived by her loving daughter Carolyn Crawford of Redcliff and one son Wayne Brodin and his wife Liz of Sherwood Park; grandchildren Greg Crawford, Roy Crawford and his fiancee Kathleen Brakefield all of Redcliff and Tara Brodin of Sherwood Park.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27th from Smith Memorial Chapel. Rev. John Theiss officiated. Active pallbearers were Jack and George Niznik, Jack and Alfred Janke, Ross Nelson and Murray Briant.
