Brown, Alexander MacDonald Rintoul

BROWN – Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald  Rintoul Brown passed away in Brooks on  July 22nd, 1997 at the age of 72 years.

Born in Taber on October 17th, 1924 he  received his education there. Sandy served  with the RCAF and after his discharge he married Heather Allan on July 29th, 1950 in Lethbridge. They resided in Taber until  moving to Virden, Manitoba in 1951 , came to Brooks in 1964 and had resided here  since. Sandy had been employed with Chevron Canada Resources for 41 years retiring in 1986 as Area Supervisor for the Brooks District. He had been a member of Brooks Golf Club, Brooks Curling Club, Big  Country Oilmen’s Association, Brooks Elk’s, Brooks Masonic Lodge and Royal Canadian Legion, EID Branch. Sandy will be remembered as a very active, young thinking individual who was well liked and respected by all who knew him.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Heather on June 11th, 1996 and is survived by his loving children Mark Brown and his wife Becky of Brooks, Barbara Kruger and her husband Travis of Calgary and Judy McKnight and her husband Bob of Duchess; grandchildren Craig, Cathy, Kevin, Carrie,  Mike, Steve and Lauren; 2 sisters Ruby McLachlan of Saskatoon and Isabelle Gear of Tehama, Califomia; brothers-in-law Frank Macleod of Sechelt, B.C. and Jack Pierson of Medicine Hat and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 26th at 11 :00 a.m. from Brooks United Church. Rev. George Edmonds officiated.

Honorary pallbearers were nieces and nephews Jim Rydel, Paul Gear, Catharyne Winfield, Robert Gear, Jackie Evack, Jean Miller, Sandra Pierson, Forbes and Margaret McLachlan, Reg, Rick, Doug and Becky Macleod.
