BROWN – Sidney Alexander Brown of Brooks, Alberta passed away in Brooks Health Centre on December 10, 1993. He was the beloved husband, friend and companion of his wife Marion.
Sid was born June 17, 1928 in Medicine Hat, Alberta and lived in Vauxhall until 1939 when he moved to the Cassils area with his family, where he resided until 1957 when he left the farm. He worked on the rigs and in construction until January of 1958 when he attended Molar‘s Barber School. The first Barbershop he worked in was the North Hill Shopping Centre in Calgary.
On November 14th, 1958 he married his wife Marion and in May of 1959 they moved to Brooks where he was employed with the late Mel Aasen in the Brooks Hotel Barber Shop, later moving to Second Street West to continue barbering with Mel and the late Gil Aasen, the late Fred Gall and Orville Aasen. In 1971 he started his company of Town and Country Painting which he continued to operate until October of 1993.
Sid is survived by his loving wife Marion, his family Craig (Rhonda)) Brown of Brooks, Debra (Ron) Klassen of Medicine Hat, Dale Brown of Brooks, Corrine Brown of Brooks, three grandsons, Aaron, Christopher and Joshua, one granddaughter Bobbie-Ann, three sisters Jean Burns of Barons, Ann Griffin of Cochrane, Betty Dick of Brooks, his mother-in-law Hilda Morrison and sister-in—law Sharon Corriveau and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Jessie Brown, four sisters and four brothers. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 15 at 2 p.m. in Brooks United Church with the Reverend David Robertson officiating. Cremation followed.
Pallbearers were Dale Brown, Ron Klassen, Scott Hart, Michael Shackleton, Aaron Corriveau and Henry Hulsman.
