BUCK – Last rites for the late Asaph Fayette Buck of Brooks and Lethbridge, who passed away on Wednesday, January 24, were held from Brooks United Church on Monday, January 29 at two o’clock with Rev. R. R. Hinchey officiating.
Mr. Buck was sixty-six years of age. He was born on July 4, 1873 near Hebron, Nebraska, where he spent his boyhood and early manhood. About 1894 he moved to California, where he met and married Mary Lawrence in the year 1897.
Surviving to mourn his loss are; his widow; three sons, Elmour Lawrence, Duchess; Garnet Barlich of Stockton, Calif.; Asaph Harlan of Huntington, Park, Calif.; one daughter, Della Irene Thompson of Millicent. Another daughter, Alice Phoebe predeceased her father.
The late Mr. Buck has a varied experience during which he became will acquainted in this district, He was connected with the immigration department of the C.P.R. for several years in the early development of this project. Later he lived in other section of the province, to return a few years ago to go into the farm machinery business. He made his headquarters in Lethbridge more recently.
Pallbearers were J, Bender, J. Kjorsvick, C. Galbraith, E. Stafford, W. A. Beck, and Z. Gregoire, During the service, T. Mair rendered a solo, “No Night There”. Funeral arrangements were in charge of W. D. Ingram and burial was made in the Brooks Cemetery.
